About the university
Keimyung University traces its origins to Keimyung Christian College, founded in 1954 by American missionary Edward Adams together with local church leaders Choi Jae-hwa and Kang In-gu.
The university's elevation to university status in 1978 marked the start of a period of rapid growth. In October 1980, the university acquired Dongsan Hospital, with its 81-year history, and reopened it as the Keimyung University Medical Center. In the early 1980s, a new 181,500 sqm campus was built in the Seongseo district of Daegu, joining the existing Daemyeong and Dongsan campuses.
Today, the university has colleges of Humanities, Education, Business, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering, Medicine, Nursing, Music, Fine Arts, and Physical Education.
